Information Systems Projects are fun! Well at
least that's how they start out. You are, after all, getting something new and
shiny. But after the initial excitment things often go adrift.
Deadlines pass by, budgets soar, scope runs wild. By the time you are done, you've forgotten why
you started. It's late, it's overbudget and it doesn't work.
We take an agressive, highly structured approach to
managing complex projects that keeps them focussed, on track and working.
Essentially we use the PRINCE2
methodology, with a little less paperwork. (PRINCE2 is owned by the UK
government after all and we know how much they love
paper).
We provide a method for managing projects within a clearly
defined framework, procedures to coordinate people and activities in a project,
design and supervise the project, and direct what to do if the project has to be
adjusted if it doesn't develop as planned. We specify each process
with its key inputs and outputs and with specific goals and activities to be
carried out, which gives an automatic control of any deviations from the plan.
Divided into manageable stages, the method enables an efficient control of
resources. On the basis of close monitoring the project can be carried out in a
controlled and organized way. The various management roles and responsibilities
involved in a project are adaptable to suit the complexity of the project and
skills of your organisation.
More than this - it works. We recently led the
implementation of Oracle 11i Financials and HR in a 750 million dollar
organization. Start to finish, the total implementation cost was 39% of the
closest comparable estimate from a name brand consultancy. Their
implementation timeline was 12 months. Using our approach, project initiation to
go-live was 90 days.
On time, on budget and it works.
